Snow Tires

Interested in picking up some discount
snow tires? When winter time comes around, it’s always
a good idea to prepare your car for it. Sure you can
get all year round tires, but if you really want to ensure
that your car keeps it’s performance and that you keep you
and your family safe from a potential accident, you had best
get yourself some good quality winter tires.
Now the thing about discount snow tires is
you do not want to go so cheap that you sacrifice on the
quality of the tires as that completely goes against the
whole purpose of getting snow tires in the first
place. The idea behind snow tires is that you will be
able to get better traction when driving on snowy surfaces
and even icy surfaces. With better traction you will
be able to accelerate from a full stop that much easier on
an icy surface, or you will be able to break that much
sooner on a road covered with ice.
When looking into discount snow tires
therefore, you have to find the right balance between
quality as well as price. If you’re not sure which
ones to go with, here are a few discount snow tires to
consider:
Michelin X-Ice
Xi2
Seeing as how we’re looking at price here,
I’ll start by saying these go for about $90 a tire.
Some consider this brand of tire to be the best winter tire
currently available. When tested, it’s found to handle
well on icy, snowy, wet or dry road conditions, it also does
it a lot quieter than it’s competition and offers you a
lower rolling resistance which translates to better gas
mileage.
The only downside might be that there
isn’t enough of a track record here to find out what it’s
durability is like.
Dunlop Graspic
DS2
Now here’s one of the lowest priced snow
tires at only $70 a tire on average. This is a snow
tire built to fit the lower budget. When driven, it
still does feel secure enough on snowy and icy roads and
does well enough on wet and dry roads too. Regarding
the durability of this tire, that is one thing I can comment
on, it is quite durable however the downside to this is that
it doesn’t perform quite as well as the Michelin X-Ice Xi2
which is only $20 a tire more.
Nokian Hakkapeliitta
5
Now this is probably the best of the bunch
although it clocks in around $165 a tire. If you’re
dealing with some tough winter conditions and you’re looking
for some serious traction, this will deliver similar results
to studded tires. This is a tire you can break on
slick ice with in a way that is better than most studless as
well as even studded tires. This isn’t a good tire
though to use on asphalt though and it is a bit
expensive. It’s a good choice for trucks and SUVs
though.
Hopefully this has provided you with some
info on discount snow tires that you can use to help make
your final decision, good luck!
